When reading the newspapers I can’t help but noticing the increased amount of pharmacy robberies that are solely motivated to obtain the prescription drug Oxycontin. Oxycontin is a slow-released tablet containing high quantities of pure Oxycodone, therefore providing for a very powerful, yet very addictive class of opiate pain medication. Due to the extremely addictive properties of this CII controlled substance this prescription drug is nowadays only prescribed for long term pain management in terminally ill patients. However, this was unfortunately not always the case…

When Oxycontin was first introduced in 1995, it was promoted by Purdue Pharma as a medication with relatively low risk for physical and/or psychological dependency (addiction). This has obviously proven to be a false statement, and increasing abuse patterns have been observed since that time. Due to the false statements regarding the addictive properties by the manufacturer, doctors initially did not realize the potential harm this medication could do. As a result it was easily prescribed during these days and used by patients with pain conditions of a much lesser degree, and who certainly did not qualify as terminally ill.

Many patients that would have currently never been able to receive a prescription for Oxycontin became addicted during this initial period, and I can’t help but wondering who are behind the increasing amount of pharmacy robberies? Could this be done by legit pain patients who became addicted many years ago as a result of badly informed doctors, and were they simply unable to stop their usage, therefore forced on the streets to buy at much higher prices? Are this people like you and me who simply got addicted and then went crazy when their doctors cut them off once they became aware of the addictive properties of this prescription drug? If so should there really be such strong legal actions against these persons and should rehab not be the first step before they go to jail?

I guess that there is no general rule but it would be very interesting if someone would publish data regarding these Oxycontin robberies such as the profiles of those who were declared guilty. I think it is important for everyone to better understand who these people are and what motivated them to commit their crimes. After all, we read so much about this happening, but we know so little about these people and their motives… As a chronic pain patient and ex-Oxycontin user I am very well aware of the severe withdrawal symptoms Oxycontin will cause when daily treatment is suddenly interrupted.

This is especially true when the drug has been used for longer periods of time, and when the patient was maintained at a high dosage. The withdrawal symptoms are obviously so severe that it drives some people desperate enough to make them lose their mind, which can in some cases result in them walking into a pharmacy in order to attempt to rob it from the Oxycontin supplies.
Would these Oxycontin robbers have done the same if their doctor kept prescribing their monthly supplies, or if they would have had enough money to maintain their addiction through illegal purchase from the streets? If you are currently using Oxycontin and you are not a terminally ill patient, than I highly recommend that you ask your doctor about tapering off, or about treatment with some kind of maintenance medication such as Buprenorphine (brand name Buprex).

Oxycontin addiction can easily grow out of control and you just may find yourself so addicted one day that you are unable to control your need for a fix and end up trying to rob a pharmacy as well. I here you thinking ‘that would never happen to me’, but how many people who actually robbed a pharmacy would have said the same thing only few years before they committed their crime? Better be safe than sorry!

Chronic Pain and my Nervous System

The human nervous system makes a quilt connection to the brain and sends messages in both directions to different parts of our body. The sympathetic nervous system informs the brain regarding pain suffered by the body, or by internal organs when they become damaged and as such have reason to complain. You can be sure these people will simply store your credit cards, save them until they have bunch, and then either use them for something illegal or sell them to hackers who will further exploit use of your data…

Signs of fraudulent website are further often indicated if logos from PharmacyChecker.com, LegitScript.com and DEA logos are shown, but not linking to the corresponding website in question. Instead redirected links to a self made copy of the original link page will be found. when links are clicked and shown in a new browser window where the url is invisible then fraud can be expected so do not order!

OK, I could go on and on and if you go to the blogsearch.google.com than you will see that this is exactly what spammers are currently doing. They seem to prefer vbulletin for use at a variery of random domains but based on the fact that this wordpress blog was also hit with hydrocodone keywords by a spammer (which did reach number one in blogsearch) that it does work but can indeed ruin someones website rankings only as a result of spam attacks so now you know how it works, please don’t use this as a secret weapon against competition nor to post on others people blogs for your own benefit.. Media Use Paralizing Fear for Public Control – 9/11, Cipro and Tamiflu

Did you know that the prescription drug Cipro () has become popular among the general public as a results of the media-induced Anthrax fears that followed the tragedy of 9/11? Psychological effects resulting from such act of terrorism were the real cause for damage, while new million dollar industries were created as a result by those who pulled the strings. Terrorist acts within the US that took place after 9/11 did not cause much physical damage, but then again, the psychological impact is what terrorism is all about…

Government funding of expensive tracking devices created new million dollar business and investment opportunities as never seen in the past; was this a conspiracy fueled by financial motives?  Millions of worthless 40 year old gas-masks previously no longer used by the US army were now sold to vendors and further made their way into the hands of the general public, which had been pumped full of fear with constant changing alerts and science fiction media stories and was therefore programmed to pay few hundred dollars for useless old junk that was now being sold 10 times over retail prices of new designs due to media reported ’shortages’ of gas-masks – although I don’t see how there can be a shortage of something which is not required in the first place – while these items wouldn’t be effective against bio-warfare anyways.

Although  9/11 by itself did not appear as a conspiracy to me, the red and orange alerts changing on us all the time and the fact that they never turned green for a day got on everybody’s nerves and people became increasingly more supportive of a war in the middle-east which we were basically tricked into supporting without being aware of the real motives involved by those in charge.

But those stop light colored alerts as issued by the government and not even turned green once danger had passed (they simply said there was no longer need for red and orange alerts but didn’t give us the satisfaction of announcing a green alert) got on everybody’s nerves similar to a regular stoplight that never changes until you cross the red light anyway which is what they tried to provoke… Supporting a war inspired on fear which is a great motivator…

It gave me the feeling that they were milking this tragic event to justify huge investment of federal money into companies owned by ‘friends’ in high places. Many direct relationship with those that gave such orders, especially ex-president not excluded, were suggested since the very beginning and can be found in the movies such as 9/11.

I am not suggesting that the manufacturer of Cipro was behind the Anthrax attacks to gain name recognition and more future sales and contracts, although the way that the H1N1 flu has been used to scare people to the extend they did not want to leave their home, certainly seems to have some sort of relationship with the manufacturer of the brand name Tamiflu which was apparently the only appropriate treatment available.

Patents for that brand name drug were strictly enforced and the manufacturer prohibited even the poorest countries to produce a more affordable generic while people that had been quarantined in special zones and unsure if they would know tomorrow. Prices in third world countries set at $20 for one single tablet, was obviously unaffordable to the general public and as such a possible death sentence as long as the full effects were not yet know but their attitudinize only shows that they wanted the virus to cause as much harm and havoc as possible because imagine the sales at $10-20 or highest bidder each tablet… That means about 150 average received from each victim, but then again, the average addict spends more on Vicodin and Oxycontin weekly but at least they don’t force it on people in the way Tamiflu was withheld from countries with potentially dying patients due to disagreements over pricing.

Although the production of Tamiflu generic by foreign copycats was highly stood up against, it eventually happened illegally anyways in some countries (Brazil being one of those countries that openly threatened to do so if Tamiflu would not reduce its prices which they eventually did to save their image once this story reached international media). Governments couldn’t risk a pandemic that could have the potential to wipe out half their country or worse.

Unfortunately the money driven businessman that worked for this pharmaceutical giant showed more than once that they couldn’t care less about the potential of several million additional fatalities due to lack of funds if prices were simply not realistic for the income of the population. Maybe they knew victim rates would be relatively low and that all the drama and scare tactics used in media was just a new type of marketing campaign for their brand medication? Or maybe they wished infections upon 3/4 of the global population. I would like to think differently about such situations and although it is obvious if you look for it, we will rarely find an open declaration and theories unfortunately don’t make it in court..

Harder-to-Break Oxycontin Tablets Gain FDA Approval

Oxy40.bmpYesterday on Monday April 5 the FDA announced that it had approved a new formulation of the controversial pain killer Oxycontin, which has been increasingly linked to abuse, overdoses, and fatal incidents, as well as countless emergency room visits throughout the USA.

Oxy10.bmpThe new formulation should make Oxycontin harder to abuse by making the tablets harder-to-break, and more difficult to dissolve. Requests, rumors and promises regarding the release of an abuse-resistant formulation have been existent for many years. The recent F.D.A. approval seems to meet these requests to some extent, and the new tablets will likely become available at your local pharmacy in the near future.

Oxy20.bmpOxycontin abuse is commonly seen in both legit patients and non-patients, who crush, chew, dissolve, and even inject the tablets. Long term abuse has been linked to permanent medical damage and in many cases directly resulted in premature death.

F.D.A. has therefore required that Purdue Pharma, manufacturer of Oxycontin, first performs post-market research regarding the effectiveness of their new formulation, and to provide for a report as of to what extend current abuse issues can truly expected to be reduced.
