Anemia caused by stress
Anemia is the declining levels of hemoglobin in the blood,
which is the protein found in red blood cell which carries
oxygen from lungs to body veins and arteries. It is caused
by stress or a poor feeding in iron, folic acid and vitamin
B12; and bleeding disturbances in the functioning of organs,
as the spleen (hosted behind the stomach) or bone marrow
tissue (yellow viscous aspect in the interior of the bones),
both responsible for producing and regenerate blood cells.
Anemia causes tiredness, pale skin, headache, feeling of
missing air, loss of appetite, and in some cases, diarrhea.
This condition is more common in children and jeopardizes
their growth and brain development.
Causes of the anemia:
• Poor feeding in iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid elements
necessary for the formation of hemoglobin, red and white
blood cells, and platelets.
• Excessive destruction of red blood cells due to diseases
such as leukemia (blood cancer) or ageing of the bone marrow.
• Malfunction of the spleen.
• The activity of the bone marrow failure can destroy or
reduce the production of blood cells. It considers that this
may be because of auto-immune diseases, (when the body
reacts against their own cells) chemotherapy, radiotherapy,
consumption of drugs or genetic factors.
• Bleeding, for example, constant bleeds nose also those due
to hemorrhoids; ulcers; tumors in kidney, bladder or
digestive; abundant menstruation and surgeries, among others.
• Anorexia and bulimia (condition in which the person vomits
food).
• Nervousness, anxiety and stress, because they are
emotional states that cause the body to consume many
vitamins and minerals reserves.
• Pregnancy, since developing fetus absorbs large amounts of
iron, his mother which can produce it efficiency.
Symptoms of the anemia:
• Fatigue.
• Inability to make efforts.
• Headache.
• Sometimes miss the air.
• If the anemia is very serious, may be a cardiac arrest.
• Lack of memory, and difficulty concentrating.
• Irritability.
• Loss of appetite.
• In some cases diarrhea or constipation.
• Pallor.
• Feeling cold.
• Irregular heartbeats.
• Bleeding nose and gums.
• Lack of iron has their own symptoms: the Pike or craving
to eat non-food items, as ice, Earth, starch or mud; swollen
tongue, injured in corners of the mouth and deformed nails.
• Vitamin B12 deficiency affects the nervous system and
causes tingling in hands, feet and legs as well as sudden
movements in muscles (tics).

Diagnosis of the anemia:
• If a person has symptoms above, doctor performs a history
where determines if there are diseases that cause bleeding,
haemorrhoids, ulcers or digestive tumors.
• Women with abundant menstruation may suspect lack of iron
and, very probably, anaemia.
• Through blood tests determine gaps in levels of hemoglobin,
red and white blood cells, platelets, iron, vitamin B12 and
folic acid.
• X-rays taken to verify if the spleen presents alterations.
• A very specific analysis is to study them cells of bone
marrow to determine if there is any disorder.
Prevention of the anemia:
• Eat foods rich in iron (seafood, meat, bone marrow, peanut
butter, green spreadsheets, integral flour, bread,
leguminous vegetables), vitamin B12 (milk, eggs, meat,
chicken, fish and some seaweed) and acid folic (spinach,
strawberries, mushrooms, lentils). This contribution can be
supported with food and vitamin supplements.
• Consumption of vitamin C allows that iron entering the
body is absorbed better. Naturally found in Orange, lemon,
guava, lime, Tangerine, melon and strawberry. The intake of
vitamin d can be enhanced with food supplements.
• Avoid poor diet due to lack of time or by trying to lose
weight.
• Avoid stress. Where they exist can be controlled with
tranquilizers natural and herbal infusions.
• Babies receive contribution of iron which, in the four
months onwards must be complemented with other foods such as
meat, legumes, juice through breast milk and vegetables.
Treatment of the anemia:
• Iron, folic acid and vitamin B12, causing anemia,
deficiency can normalize those elements giving the patient
in the form of capsules and tablets sold without
prescription, although in some cases are required to do so
through injections.
• You must follow a balanced diet containing foods of
different groups (proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates and
lipids).
• Children may also receive the contribution of the
abovementioned elements, to consume fortified milk powder.
• If you have diarrhea, which is usually not infectious, can
be controlled with over-the-counter medications.
• If you have constipation can resort to an over-the-counter
laxative.
• Sometimes appears headache, which can be alleviated with
an analgesic for free access.
• Lack of memory and concentration can be improved to take
over-the-counter medications indicated to increase the
capacity of attention, concentration, and retention.
• To reduce fatigue can resort to products containing
ginseng.
• When there are wounds in corners of lips, recommended
apply antiseptics to avoid infection, you can also use some
gels to help heal them.
• If the cause of anemia is bleeding, is essential to a
hematologist to detect the origin and recommend appropriate
treatment.
• When it is caused by bodies such as the spleen and bone
marrow disorders requires special therapy, that only a
doctor may prescribe.
