Gout: Arthritis Chronic Disease
Gout is a chronic joint disease characterized by acute
episodes of joint inflammation, usually self-defined and no
sequelae in the early years of disease progression. Gout,
also called crystal-induced arthritis is an arthritic
condition that occurs when uric acid crystals accumulate in
joints.
Gout is 4 times more frequent in men than in women. It can
occur from adolescence to senile, age although preferably
affects women and men between 35 and 50 years from age 50.
The main risk factor is to have high uric acid levels in
blood, older few higher than they. Other predisposing
factors include obesity, hypertension, taking certain drugs
and precursors of uric acid-rich diet.
Gout is manifested in the form of abrupt episodes of severe
pain and swelling of articulation, constituting one of the
causes of acute arthritis. The acute episode, without
treatment, lasts for several days. These episodes tend to
repeat themselves, and may affect subsequent attacks on any
joint.
The most frequently affected joint is the first
metatarsal-falángica foot, but can also appear in other
joints of the ye feet, ankles, and more rarely, in the knees
or wrists.

Leaving evolve disease attacks can not be resolved
completely, affecting several joints at the same time and
limiting significantly the quality of life of the patient.
Sometimes, in advanced stages, appear tangible clusters in
the form of hard nodules, called tophi. Occasionally, uric
acid crystals are deposited in the kidneys, resulting in
colic episodes nephritic.
Diagnosis of gout is based on symptoms, blood tests showing
high levels of uric acid, and the existence of urate
crystals in the fluid in the joints. Chronic gout, x-rays
indicate the cartilage and bone damage.
The treatment is based on the administration of an anti-inflammatory
steroid not colchicine or both to downstream dose for
several days until the cessation of symptoms. It is more
effective the sooner you start.
Recommended for people that suffer from gout eating a poor
foods rich in purine (fundamentally organ meats, seafood,
meat, asparagus and alcohol), drink from 10 to 12 glasses of
eight ounces of fluid every day, reduce alcohol consumption
and weight loss diet.
