The disease of Parkinson is a neurodegenerativo process of the extrapiramidal system that approximately affects 1% of the greater people of 50 years. The Parkinson was discovered for the first time by the English doctor James Parkinson in 1817. Between his more important clinical characteristics it appears depression, anxiety, muscular rigidity, slowness in the corporal movements, the postural instability and the face inexpressiveness.

Causes:

The disease of Parkinson this caused by the death or deterioration of certain neurons, in an area of the well-known brain like substance nigra. These neurons produce dopamine, the neurotransmitter in charge to transmit signals between the substance nigra and corpus striatum, being mediated therefore a good muscular activity.

The reduction in the dopamine production causes in the patients and incapacity to direct or to control its movements of normal form, had al uncontrolled of the nervous cells of striatum. The studies have demonstrated that the patients of Parkinson have a loss of 80% or more of the producing dopamine cells in the substance nigra. The cause of this death or cellular deterioration is not known.

Symptoms:

Between his more important clinical characteristics it appears the rest tremor, the rigidity, slowness in the corporal movements, the postural instability and the face inexpressiveness.

The characteristic symptoms:

• Muscular rigidity.
• Tremor can be of different intensities.
• Hipocinesia, lack of movements.
• Difficulties when walking, it seems that they are followed themselves.
• Bad stability when being unemployed
• When beginning to walk they have problems, costs to them to begin.
• If a movement is not finished it has difficulties to reinitiate it, or to finish it.
• Face of fish or mask, by lack of expression of muscles of the face.
• Slowness of movements.
• Acatisia is said of a lack of capacity to be seated without moving.
• Movement of the fingers as if they were counting money.
• Opened mouth, with difficulty to maintain closed it.
• Voice of low tone, and singsong.
• Difficulty to write, to eat, or for fine movements.
• Intellectual deterioration, sometimes.
• Constipation.
• Depression, anxiety, muscular atrophy.

The medical treatment of the Parkinson is made with the objective to control the symptoms, for which usually it administers levodopa, substance that when arriving at the brain is transformed into dopamine, allowing again that trasmitan the nervous impulses.

The treatment presents/displays problems of reappearance of the symptoms and certain adverse effects like involuntary movements, which has motivated the use of new drugs. In each case the pharmacologic treatment will be individualized, according to the characteristics of the patient and the predominant symptoms, being able, in the most serious cases, to require of a surgical treatment.

Most of the main symptoms, they can be controlled with the present medication. This possibility of control, along with the acceptance and adaptation to the disease on the part of the patient, usually means that most of people with disease of Parkinson can take an independent life and activates, in spite of the limitations that the same one imposes.

As the disease progresses and appear new problems, or they must to the own disease or the medication, solutions must look for that, sometimes, imply a change or fits of medicines. The accomplishment of a program of physical exercises is very recommendable, as well as the support and psychological treatment of the situation.

Finally to remember that although the physical conditioning is diminished, not therefore the intellectual, reason why the patient will be able to present/display psychological problems that will have to be included /understood by the relatives and treaties, if it is necessary, by their doctor. In motion certain surgical procedures exist that modify the cerebral alterations, if the case is very intense and does not improve with processing.
